Happy Brithday Sophia!

I made this for a darling little lady named Sophia!
I made two Marshmallow Fondant cakes in two days.
I used the second WASC recipe on the linked to post.  (Follow WASC link.)
I was careful not to over bake it and it was moist and delicious.

This little dot cake has a pink hue to it.  Oops.
I can't get away with a pink crumb coat.
But, boy it made for a cute effect when the cake was cut.
Before I started doing cakes I had no idea how labor intensive they are.

Does it ever get easy?

  3. I love your blog! I wanted to try and do simple cakes but I learned there isn't really a simple cake. Unless you have found a cute style that is super simple. :-)

  5. I love making cakes for the kids. Unless it's German Chocolate, I try to always freeze the cake overnight and then serve it still partially frozen. The kids love it that way. I haven't tried fondant though. is it hard to use?

  6. I recommend watching youtube videos before you throw your first fondant. And yes, it is a bit hard to work with some days. Fondant is moody. If your powdered sugar is at all clumpy you with have issues with it and it prefers to be just he right temp and texture.
If you plan to freeze your cake (I do) get it out a couple of hours before you throw the Fondant. The cake expands as it thaws causing expansion cracks in the cake. Oops just learned that one the hard way.
But, I prefer the cake to be cold. It helps prevent the drooping where the layers meet.
