Young Women's Cake Off - Beehive Entry

We had a ball tonight at the Young Women's cake off! I have a big group of Beehives so naturally we made a Beehive cake. We had 1 hour to put the cake together and make our embellishments.
Whoa can you say panic?

My girls really came through. When time got short they cranked bees out and got them on the cake. Gotta love my girls!
I intended to have some roses on the cake and a door for the poor bees, but time became an issue. We learned black fondant is tough to achieve. Wow, did it ever mess the texture up to put SO MUCH dye in.
The girls made roses and piped frosting onto cupcakes for the sake of experience. What a great experience it was! Here is the Laurel entry. Great job ladies! They battled the fondant with all of that coloring too.
And last but not least the Mia Maid entry.
They really did a great job.

What a great mutual activity idea!
Until next year!

An After thought-
I thought you might like to see the cake crumb coated.

Hope you liked it.

  2. For those of you who know.... My Dad's cancer surgery went well today. They removed the kidney and thus far believe the margins are clean.
Thanks for your love and prayers.

  5. My Dad had a long day today. But he is still keeping at it. He has a temp and seems a little bit confused. That is worrisome because it can signal sepsis. But, we are hopeful it is just the narcotics.

My F-I-L has had 4 transfusions in just a few weeks. He has no white cells.
All in all we are doing well. :o)
